DESCRIPTION:
Dengue is known to be transmitted primarily by a mosquito vector Aedes Aegypti, and in some instances, by Aedes albopictus. The dengue viruses are of two (2) genotypes – Asian 2 and Cosmopolitan; and four (4) serotypes - DEN1, DEN2, DEN3 and DEN4 which are circulating in the Philippines. Humans are the main host of the virus. The virus circulates in The blood of infected humans for 2-7 days, at approximately the same time as they have fever.
